To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), I was commissioned to create the flagship documentary for the federation's centenary celebrations. Released ahead of the 2026 World Table Tennis Championships in London, the film became the centrepiece of a year-long campaign celebrating the sport's history.
Completed in just 32 days, this was an entirely solo production from start to finish. Every aspect of the project - from historical research, archive discovery and digitisation to story development, scripting, editing, animation, sound design and final delivery - was created by me without external support.
The film explores one of the sport's biggest questions: Who is the greatest table tennis player of all time? Drawing on almost a century of competition, rare archive material and extensive research, it compares the greatest players across every era. While there may never be a definitive answer, the documentary aims to bring the debate one step closer.
Bringing 100 Years Together
Condensing a century of table tennis into a compelling 42-minute documentary meant piecing together thousands of archive photographs, historic film reels and decades of results. The challenge was not only to tell the story accurately, but to create a narrative that would resonate with lifelong fans and newcomers alike.
